POSITION SUMMARY: This role entails performing routine quality assurance tasks. Responsibilities include overseeing internal quality assurance and compliance across various databases in accordance with state and federal regulations. The analyst will verify the accuracy, completeness, and legitimacy of legal documents submitted by law enforcement and judicial entities. Training of other staff may be required. The position operates under moderate supervision, allowing for some initiative and independent judgment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Evaluate and analyze submissions from applicants and criminal history records, noting deficiencies and ensuring compliance with service delivery standards and program requirements.
  • Conduct quality control assessments of applicant submissions, criminal history records, and legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Communicate final decisions regarding applicant submissions and criminal history evaluations to local, state, and federal agencies as well as the public.
  • Interpret and relay information about internal policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance policies and standards.
  • Analyze quality control errors to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to approved work hours in line with agency policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education - A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree from an accredited four-year institution in criminal justice or a related field is preferred.

Experience - A minimum of three years of experience in criminal history records, auditing, compliance, or quality assurance is required. Educational qualifications may substitute for experience on a 2:1 basis.

Certifications - Candidates must obtain TLETS/NLETS and TCIC/NCIC Basic Procedures Certification through TXDPS training within six months of employment. A valid driver's license is required if driving is part of the job responsibilities.

Knowledge Requirements - Familiarity with TXDPS, state, and federal regulations, as well as guidelines related to the management and dissemination of criminal records in the CCH database, is essential.

Interpersonal Skills - Candidates must demonstrate poise, tact, and diplomacy, with the ability to foster positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Organizational Skills - The ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment is crucial, along with meeting deadlines without compromising quality.

Communication Skills - Proficiency in delivering clear and professional presentations and reports to diverse audiences is required.

Analytical Skills - Candidates must exhibit strong analytical reasoning and attention to detail, with the ability to identify trends and solve problems effectively.

Technical Skills - Proficiency in CJIS systems, TCIC/NCIC databases, and Microsoft Office Suite is necessary, along with the ability to learn new software quickly.

Confidentiality - Candidates must handle sensitive information responsibly and adhere to relevant laws and policies regarding confidentiality.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

This role requires standard office environment capabilities, including mobility skills, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
