DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center) is a nonprofit entity committed to supporting individuals facing homelessness, substance use challenges, and severe mental health issues. Their mission is to facilitate optimal health and well-being through a range of services, treatment options, and housing solutions. DESC serves nearly 3,000 individuals each day and is recognized for its innovative approaches to addressing homelessness.

Position Responsibilities:

The Facilities Supervisor at DESC is responsible for leading, coordinating, training, and overseeing maintenance personnel. The primary duty is to uphold the physical integrity of both residential and commercial properties, ensuring exceptional service quality and tenant satisfaction. This role also supports the Director of Facilities in the administration of the maintenance department.

Key Duties Include:

  • Address emergency maintenance issues during after-hours
  • Prioritize maintenance requests and ensure timely responses
  • Manage work orders and provide progress updates
  • Collaborate with external contractors to guarantee task completion
  • Ensure safe maintenance practices and adherence to safety regulations
  • Conduct various repair and maintenance activities within facilities
  • Diagnose and rectify issues related to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and other systems
  • Monitor facility conditions and execute preventive maintenance
  • Assist with larger projects and participate in staff meetings as necessary
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of maintenance experience in sizable facilities
  • Experience in central plant operations or a related trade
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, blueprints, and schematic diagrams
  • Valid driver's license and capability to operate agency vehicles
  • Ability to efficiently organize multiple projects
  • Proficiency in electronic work order management systems
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse populations
  • Dedication to client respect and collaboration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience in property management
  • HVAC certification
  • Experience in managing property maintenance for extensive portfolios
