Role Summary
The Spanish Language Support Specialist plays a vital role in facilitating the Spanish immersion program by providing assistance to the classroom educator in various capacities essential for student learning. This position involves engaging with students individually and in small groups, aiding with daily assignments, and ensuring the mission of the institution is upheld. The Specialist exemplifies a servant leadership approach and fosters an environment of respect, collaboration, and professionalism by positively representing colleagues and supporting the broader educational community. All interactions within the immersion setting will be conducted in Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the classroom educator as required.
- Engage with students on an individual basis or in group settings, assisting with tasks such as organizing materials, distributing assignments, and providing project support.
- Collaborate with the educator to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proactively anticipate classroom needs.
- Assist students in transitioning between different areas of the school.
- Supervise students during recess and playtime.
- Help maintain classroom discipline and demonstrate effective management skills.
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities as needed.
- Exhibit patience and firmness in student interactions; comfortable with both nurturing and disciplinary actions.
- Maintain focus on student engagement and assigned responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to faith in Jesus Christ.
- Maintain a positive Christian witness.
- Active involvement in a local church aligned with the institution's beliefs.
- Fluency in both Spanish and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills in Spanish.
- Ability to engage comfortably with individuals and foster meaningful conversations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound judgments with minimal oversight.
- Integrity in handling confidential matters.
- Proficient in using technology and educational tools.
Supervisory Role
This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities.
Experience and Education
No specific educational qualifications are required; however, bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, along with strong communication skills, is essential. Experience working with children is preferred.

Successful candidates will exhibit qualities such as enthusiasm, kindness, flexibility, and perseverance. They will manage stress effectively, maintain professionalism, and build rapport with students, parents, and staff to create a positive educational atmosphere.
