Position Overview:


The Lead Early Childhood Educator for Head Start will support daily operations in alignment with licensing requirements, Head Start performance benchmarks, and YMCA standards.

Available Roles:
- Year-Round - 12-month position
- 10 Months - 10-month position (summers off); Additional summer hours available across YMCA programs if desired.

- Exhibit expertise in child development, early childhood education, and family engagement.
- Foster children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.


Maintain a conducive classroom environment and daily routine, ensuring health, safety, organization, and aesthetics.

Lead and exemplify professionalism and teamwork within the educational team.

Build and sustain supportive, professional relationships with children and their families to enhance communication, involvement, and advocacy.

Additional Duties:
- Design and execute lesson plans while guiding the teaching team in curriculum development and assessment.
- Ensure learning experiences are developmentally suitable.
- Continuously observe and document children's progress and development.
- Establish respectful, responsive relationships with children, adhering to daily routines and activities.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation protocols.


Conduct and document formal coaching sessions and annual performance evaluations, along with 45- and 90-day reviews for new staff.


Mentor Teacher Assistants to help them achieve professional development goals, encourage positive performance, and address areas for improvement.

Oversee daily classroom activities in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards and State Licensing requirements.

Maintain certifications and stay updated with all Infant/Child CPR and First Aid requirements.

Participate in mandatory training and complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education/professional development annually.

Conduct and document parent-teacher conferences and/or home visits at least four times per year.

Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree with 18 credits in Early Childhood Education.
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education is highly preferred.
- Minimum of three years of experience in an early childhood classroom setting is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Capability to perform daily tasks while planning for long-term objectives.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
