Patient Care Technician II

Key ResponsibilitiesThe Patient Care Technician (PCT) II plays a vital role within the healthcare team. This position involves assisting with both direct and indirect patient care, working collaboratively with nursing and medical staff. The care provided is under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The PCT is accountable for ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.
- Direct and Indirect Patient Care: Responsible for performing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as:
- Essential Care: Includes oral hygiene, bathing, grooming, incontinence care, and maintaining a tidy patient environment.
- Safety Measures: Focus on infection control, skin integrity, and fall prevention.
- Patient Monitoring: Responding to safety alarms and ensuring a secure environment.
- Mobility Assistance: Aiding patients with movement, ambulation, and the use of mobility devices.
- Nutritional Support: Assisting with meal delivery and patient feeding.
- Data Collection: Utilizing equipment for vital signs and other patient metrics.
- Documentation: Recording essential patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Patient Surveillance: Providing monitoring for patients at risk of self-harm.
- Care Interventions: Executing delegated tasks within the scope of practice, such as specimen collection and vital sign checks.
- Communication: Effectively liaising with the healthcare team to report patient status and changes.
- Customer Service: Delivering compassionate care tailored to each patient's unique needs and preferences.
- Additional Duties: Performing other responsibilities as assigned by the healthcare leadership team.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
Experience:
- One of the following is required: Minimum one year of direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting, completion of one year in an RN program with clinical experience, current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, or current EMT certification with relevant experience.
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification must be obtained within six months of hire.

Physical Demands:
- Heavy Work: Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. frequently.

- Occasional activities may involve balancing, climbing, and kneeling.
Hazards:
- Potential exposure to bodily fluids and chemicals.
Work Environment:
- May encounter noise, humidity, and other environmental factors.
