Lead Software Engineer in Avionics

Position Overview:

The Avionics Common Development Environment team is dedicated to advancing digital innovation within avionics. This role is tailored for a seasoned Principal Software Engineer with expertise in computer vision and artificial intelligence, serving as the primary subject matter expert for our computer vision initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all technical decisions, design, and implementation of features related to our computer vision solutions.
  • Oversee the development of new functionalities for our computer vision applications.
  • Enhance and optimize existing software capabilities.
  • Establish and manage sandbox environments for technology exploration and development.
  • Collaborate across various teams to facilitate the swift integration of our technologies.
  • Provide mentorship and training to team members.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and unforeseen challenges.
  • Utilize effective communication to keep stakeholders informed on project progress.
  • Lead a team of engineers within an Agile framework.
  • Employ problem-solving and teamwork skills to achieve team objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Proven experience in all phases of the software engineering lifecycle, including certification processes.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, Cert DevOps, and computer vision methodologies.
  • Proficient in tools such as GitLab, Git, CMake, and Docker.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages, particularly Python.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence training frameworks and simulation environments.
  • Background in API and server development using frameworks like Flask and FastAPI.
  • Experience with Agile development practices.
