Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Transportation Design Engineer to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our roadways team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of transportation facility projects and studies, including roadways, intersections, bikeways, sidewalks, highways, interchanges, structures, and railways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform technical work on transportation facility projects and studies, utilizing expertise in design, analysis, public outreach, and project management/coordination.
  • Responsible for tasks such as research, CAD drafting, calculations, data management, quantity take-offs, and technical writing.
  • Develop deliverables such as drawings/plans, displays, presentations, specifications, cost estimates, and reports.
  • Work effectively with project teams, perform technical reviews, delegate tasks, and mentor junior engineering staff as necessary.
  • Attend meetings and interface with client technical staff.
  • Maintain adherence to project schedules/milestones, budgets, and scopes.
  • Participate in field investigations as needed.
Requirements
  • Proficient with Bentley CAD programs, including MicroStation, Open Roads Designer, and ProjectWise.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
  • Familiarity with transportation design manuals, standards, and procedures, such as the AASHTO Green Book and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
  • Familiarity with state, county, and municipal transportation agencies in the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and critical thinking skills.
  • Commitment to client satisfaction, team, and personal growth.
  • Professional, ethical, positive, team-oriented, organized, proactive, and adaptable approach to challenges.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines, work independently, think clearly, have organized thoughts, and draw logical conclusions.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Geographic Information Systems.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Maryland, Virginia, and/or District of Columbia.
  • 5 years' experience in transportation design and analysis for a professional engineering firm.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s): $104,000 - $150,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI and MD

The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec, certain roles are bonus eligible.
