Your Role

We are in search of a dynamic Civil Engineering Team Leader to spearhead the expansion of our civil and environmental engineering division. This position will involve providing technical and career advancement leadership to our engineers and CAD designers, as well as managing client relationships and projects for a variety of sectors including power, commercial, and municipal.

Your responsibilities will encompass the execution, management, and oversight of various civil engineering initiatives, including solid waste management, coal combustion residuals (CCR) facilities, leachate and wastewater management, earthwork design, stormwater management, geotechnical assessments, subsurface investigations, environmental permitting, and other civil engineering designs pertinent to industrial projects. Effective project delivery will necessitate the preparation of deliverables (reports, permit applications, construction drawings), management of budgets and schedules, billing, project tracking, and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Your Contributions

  • Lead and mentor a skilled team of engineers and CAD designers, fostering professional growth and providing technical guidance.
  • Utilize advanced civil and environmental engineering methodologies to enhance various phases of site development, from concept to operation.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and inspections of site conditions, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Develop comprehensive construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates while coordinating with various stakeholders.
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of data from diverse sources to inform project development and design.
  • Manage the design and construction of infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Incorporate innovative technologies and strategies into civil engineering designs to enhance functionality and safety.
  • Review permit applications and engineering plans to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Create detailed technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Analyze field investigation data to develop action plans for risk mitigation.
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and clients professionally and confidently.
  • Collaborate with various professionals on federally and state-funded projects, as well as business development initiatives.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and practices in civil and environmental engineering.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to meet business objectives.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and civil design.
  • Virginia Professional Engineer license is required (multi-state preferred).
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team of engineers and CAD designers.
  • Strong understanding of civil and environmental engineering principles and practices.
  • Extensive experience in site civil/grading, stormwater management, and solid waste facility design.
  • Familiarity with Virginia Stormwater Management Program (VSMP) regulations and related permitting processes.
  • Experience in groundwater and soil remediation, including knowledge of various remedial technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying ideas effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while providing guidance to junior team members.
  • Proficient in technical writing and various engineering software tools.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Flexibility to work beyond standard hours as project demands dictate.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally based on project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) certification.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
