Job Title: Senior Civil Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Designer to join our team at Timmons Group. As a Senior Civil Designer, you will be responsible for directing and independently completing assigned engineering designs, as well as assisting the Project Manager and assigning tasks and schedules to Project Engineers and project team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and independently complete assigned engineering designs
  • Assist the Project Manager and assign tasks and schedules to Project Engineers and project team members
  • Check the accuracy of assigned tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff
  • Make major design decisions that meet the needs of external customers while coordinating the impact of such decisions on related project efforts
  • Proactively identify technical, schedule, or financial issues and seek resolution from the Project Manager and/or the client
  • Assist the client in bidding or contractor selection if authorized by the Project Manager
  • Monitor construction and supervise field personnel assigned to a task, data collection, or a specific project
  • Respond to contractor questions and issues, and prepare and issue project addendum as needed
  • Recommend and prepare change orders
  • Participate in the creation of engineering services proposals, including the calculation/estimation of time schedules and costs of the proposed work
  • Independently communicate on technical matters with the client
Requirements:
  • At least five years of civil design experience
  • Intermediate to advanced ability to use AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation software and other engineering automation tools (Revit, BIM 360)
  • Capable of correctly operating technical analysis equipment and computer equipment
  • Strong technical verbal and technical writing skills, and ability to read technical literature and engineering plans
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities
  • Develop financial project management skills through assigned project work and assigned project management assignments
  • Maturity, professionalism, and willingness to solve internal and external client problems
  • Ability to demonstrate two-way communication to effectively work with internal staff and external clients
