Job Title: Vehicle Operations Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Operations Coordinator to join our team at The Auto Club Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of our service vehicle operators and ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate work activities of service vehicle operators and provide backup support as needed
  • Instruct service vehicle operators on company rules and procedures
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and provide input to supervisors on employee performance
  • Dispatch emergency roadside assistance calls to members and fleet personnel via radio, telephone, or electronically
  • Manage calls related to emergency and commercial road service using a computer-aided call processing system
  • Perform geographical location spotting, map reading, and provide detailed instructions to fleet service personnel
  • Monitor dispatched calls and take action to resolve service problems or potential issues
  • Handle customer escalations and provide explanations as needed
  • Report and document service issues and close service requests in a timely manner
  • Accept payment from members and customers as appropriate and reconcile payment issues
  • Maintain related records and files
  • Assist coworkers and less-tenured dispatchers as needed
  • Maintain inventory of tow truck and service vehicle supplies, vehicle maintenance records, and requisition replacement tools and equipment as needed
  • Ensure proper maintenance of tow trucks, service vehicles, and equipment

Requirements:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license with minimal driving infractions/incidents
  • Successful completion of drug screening, MVR, criminal background check, and DOT health screenings (pre-employment and ongoing)
  • Experience as a tow truck driver or equivalent
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and locate street numbers and intersections within an acceptable time limit
  • Ability to provide work direction and guidance and communicate effectively with others in a work environment and with the public
  • Ability to maintain files and records and complete activity reports
  • Ability to operate tow trucks or light service vehicles and related equipment to provide emergency road service to AAA members and other motorists
  • Ability to provide minor automotive repair during absence of assigned personnel
  • Ability to lift material weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to perform proper towing procedures and operate various types of towing equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Class C (Non CDL) driver's license in Chicago

Work Environment:

This role requires frequent time spent in driving service vehicles and/or tow trucks to provide emergency road service to AAA members, employees, and the general public, with exposure to road hazards and temperature extremes.
