Position Overview:

The Culinary Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting with meal preparation for various catering events and responding to customer inquiries at AHRC Nassau. This position encompasses a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to, cashiering, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the work area, providing operational support, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for customers.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Culinary Supervisor and assistant supervisor in the preparation of food items, including hot and cold dishes, beverages, salads, sandwiches, and dressings.
  • Executing kitchen cleaning tasks, ensuring that work areas, including pots, pans, service ware, utensils, and equipment, are properly washed and maintained; managing waste disposal in designated containers.
  • Assisting with inventory management in the storeroom by physically counting items to confirm stock levels and ensure adequate food supplies for upcoming needs.
  • Performing cashiering tasks as necessary.
  • Providing training and guidance to fellow employees engaged in related duties.
  • Delivering a diverse range of food items to various locations as required.
  • Carrying out additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or management.
  • Adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid NYS Driver's License is necessary.
  • Previous experience in food service is preferred.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, are essential.
