Lead Security Systems Technician - Level 1

DataVox is seeking a Lead Security Systems Technician to enhance our Building Technology Solutions Department.

Key Responsibilities:

The Lead Security Systems Technician will oversee the maintenance and management of access control, CCTV, and burglar alarm systems, as well as small to mid-sized security solutions.

  • Install IP-based CCTV, Access Control systems, Intercoms, and related equipment.
  • Set up Access Control/VMS servers and UPS systems.
  • Conduct testing of installed systems and perform basic programming, including adding card readers, users, cameras, and door controllers.
  • Execute preventive maintenance and repairs according to manufacturer-approved procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair system or component-level equipment.
  • Delegate daily tasks to the onsite team, ensuring completion and quality control.
  • Coordinate daily site requirements with management and team members.
  • Conduct site commissioning and testing alongside Programmers.
  • Provide training for new technicians.
  • Facilitate effective communication and rapport between the job site and company personnel.
  • Keep the Project Manager informed of job status regularly and promptly.
  • Assist with in-house assembly, testing, and checkout tasks.
  • Help resolve technical challenges as they arise, addressing potential issues that could negatively impact customers.
  • Seek guidance and direction as necessary for task performance.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in installing various Physical Security components, including electric strikes, mag locks, contacts, REX devices, cameras, power supplies, intercoms, and door controllers.
  • Knowledgeable in multiple Access Control systems, Intrusion, and Intercom components.
  • Basic understanding of access control, life safety, and ADA compliance.
  • Demonstrates a grasp of basic networking principles.
  • Able to troubleshoot Access Control or video systems from the server level.
  • Capable of troubleshooting and configuring network security devices.
  • Possesses system/component-level troubleshooting skills and a working knowledge of electronics, including the use of a multi-meter.
  • Exhibits sound judgment and the ability to work independently.
  • Effective organizational skills and a sense of urgency in workload management.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities with customers, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in operating test equipment.
  • Must successfully pass security and background checks.
  • Compliance with company and customer safety programs is mandatory.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Availability to work during standard or assigned schedules is essential.
  • Completion of Trade School or a 2-year degree in Basic Electronics is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Physical Security Installer Technician and Service Technician is required.
  • Certification in basic Access Control/CCTV/Burglar systems is preferred.
  • Certifications in Genetec, Axis, Sony, Bosch Intrusion, and HID VertX are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Genetec, Axis, Sony, Bosch Intrusion Detection, and HID VertX is preferred.
  • Ability to work on various manufacturers' systems without formal training is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves standing, talking, hearing, and using hands to handle or operate tools and equipment. The employee will frequently walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, drive, and reach. Proficiency in operating specific tools and equipment is necessary, along with the ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods. The employee must regularly push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing job duties, the employee may work in inclement weather conditions and near moving mechanical parts. Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations is frequent. Occasional work in high or precarious places and exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and electrical shock risks may occur. Compliance with required PPE, including safety glasses and hearing protection, is mandatory.
