Key Responsibilities
  • Referral Management: Coordinate referrals from primary care providers to specialists, ensuring timely and accurate communication of patient information.
  • Patient Advocacy: Provide exceptional patient care by maintaining ongoing tracking and documentation of referrals, promoting team awareness, and ensuring patient safety.
  • Registration and Data Management: Ensure complete and accurate registration, including patient demographic and current insurance information, to facilitate efficient referral processing.
  • Clinical Information Coordination: Assemble and provide relevant clinical information to specialists, ensuring they have the necessary details to provide optimal care.
  • Insurance and Reimbursement: Contact review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met, maximizing reimbursement to the hospital and physicians.
  • Communication and Education: Review details and expectations about the referral with patients, ensuring they understand their care plan and any necessary next steps.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Required.
  • Office/Clerical Experience: Previous experience in an office or clerical setting, with strong typing skills and computer knowledge.
  • Communication and Organizational Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on details with a high level of accuracy, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but not required:

  • Medical Terminology Coursework: Previous experience or coursework in medical terminology is preferred.
