Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Science Principal to join our team at Discover Financial Services. As a key member of our analytics team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of advanced analytics initiatives to drive business growth and improve customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Thought Leadership: Provide strategic thinking and guidance to business stakeholders on data-driven decision making, leveraging techniques such as segmentation, optimization, and machine learning.
  • Analytics Expertise: Operate as a subject matter expert on statistical analysis, data modeling, and financial impact analysis, providing business insights and recommendations to drive strategy enhancement and optimization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional partners to understand business needs, formulate and complete end-to-end analysis, and facilitate implementation of work product.
  • Advanced Analytics: Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics capabilities, including customer segmentation, optimization, prescriptive analytics, and machine learning algorithms.
  • Communication: Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve technical and leadership skills through training and development, and recommend improvement to work processes to increase efficiency while maintaining quality of work.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Analytics, Engineering, or Statistics or related.
  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in Credit Risk, Fraud Risk, Marketing Analytics, Optimization, Operations Analytics, Modeling/Data Science or related.
  • Skills: SQL, Python, and Visualization tools such as Tableau or Stremlit.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Master's Degree in Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related.
  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in Credit Risk, Fraud Risk, Marketing Analytics, Optimization, Operations Analytics, Modeling/Data Science or related.
  • Skills: Advanced SQL, Python, and Visualization tools such as Tableau or Stremlit.
Benefits
  • Competitive Compensation: The base pay for this position generally ranges between $126,500.00 to $177,000.00.
  • Total Compensation Package: Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package.
