Job Title: Airport Director

City of San Angelo Texas is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airport Director to lead the City employees of the San Angelo Regional Airport. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating operational efficiencies, staff direction and development, capital improvement projects, and providing expertise, analysis, and recommendations for the improvement of the Airport.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate special research requests, capital improvement projects, and other department initiatives, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, and priorities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Oversight of planning, design, engineering, and construction management, including resources, cost schedules, milestones, and vendor management.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and review the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, designs, and cost estimates for various development projects, easements, and legal requirements.
  • Review, evaluate, and track budget allocations, employee assignments, performance, and project completion.
  • Manage a variety of airport projects, including pavement work, concourse development, rental car facilities, solar fields, and tenant rehabilitation work.
  • Lead the capital planning process to ensure meeting priority project completion while maximizing funding from all sources.
  • Maintain and ensure that Airport Safety and Security regulations are met and are current per FAA standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree with major coursework in aviation management, engineering, urban or regional planning, architecture, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in management-level planning, engineering, or a related field in an airport/aviation environment.
  • A minimum of 1 year in a management or supervisory role.
  • Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) or Certified Member (CM) of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) is preferred.
  • The ability to pass a Security Threat Assessment (STA) and Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) to obtain an airport SIDA badge.
Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
  • Subject to sitting for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 15 pounds.
  • Exposure to potentially hostile members of the public is involved.
