Note: These positions provide a clear career trajectory and practical training. You will have the chance to advance within the Human Resource Consultant field, ultimately aiming for the Human Resource Consultant 2 classification. Candidates may be considered for either the Human Resource Consultant 1 (In-Training) or Human Resource Consultant 2 (Goal classification) levels, based on their qualifications.
Telework Options: This role requires in-office attendance at least once a week. Additional in-office presence may be necessary during the training phase and to address business requirements. Duties
What makes this role unique?
The Technical Human Resource Consultant positions are integral to the HR Technical Unit. You will independently execute professional human resource functions for designated programs and provide support to senior HR staff as directed by your supervisor. This team is cohesive and dedicated, finding ways to enjoy their work while maintaining high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Technical Consultant, you will be responsible for interpreting relevant federal and state regulations, civil service rules, collective bargaining agreements, and agency policies to:
Complete comprehensive personnel actions, including processing appointment letters and entering data into the Human Resource Management System, in collaboration with Payroll and Environmental/Administrative Programs. Serve as the primary contact for various HR inquiries, delivering exceptional customer service to Ecology staff, leadership, and the public by managing employment history requests, verifications of employment, salary inquiries, and more. Maintain confidential records in accordance with retention guidelines and assist the Public Disclosure Coordinator with public disclosure requests.Qualifications

A total of 4 years of experience and/or education:
Experience in comprehensive professional human resources, including advising and consulting on HR matters (classification and compensation, personnel and payroll actions, generalist functions).
Education in human resources, business administration, public administration, social or behavioral sciences, or a closely related field.
At the Human Resource Consultant 2 Level:
A total of 5 years of experience and/or education:
