As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in Chicago's southside, Southside Blooms specializes in farm-to-vase floral arrangements that are both innovative and environmentally conscious. We are committed to creating job opportunities and training for at-risk youth, making a positive impact in our community.
Position Summary
In the role of Floral Event Planner, you will take charge of planning, organizing, and executing the floral components of a variety of events, such as weddings, corporate gatherings, and private celebrations. Collaborating closely with clients, vendors, and our internal team, you will ensure that each event's floral designs align with the client's vision, budget, and style.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Engage with clients to assess their floral requirements, preferences, and financial parameters.
- Coordinate all floral arrangements and details for events.
- Collaborate with the Event Florist to craft bespoke floral designs, including bouquets, centerpieces, and decorative elements.
- Establish and manage floral timelines to guarantee all tasks are completed punctually.
- Supervise floral setup, upkeep, and dismantling at event locations, ensuring exceptional quality and efficiency.
- Oversee floral budgets and monitor expenses to maintain alignment with the client's financial plan.
- Provide on-site management of floral elements during events to resolve any issues and ensure seamless execution.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with clients, vendors, and community partners.
- Mentor and instruct youth involved in the event, sharing insights on floral design and event management.
- Assess floral outcomes and collect feedback to enhance future events.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a floral coordinator or event planner with an emphasis on floral design.
- Outstanding organizational and time-management capabilities.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple events concurrently.
- Detail-oriented with a creative approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical endurance to handle and transport floral arrangements.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Experience in client relations and large-scale event management.

Additional Information
