POSITION SUMMARY

The primary role of the security department is to ensure a safe and secure environment for all staff, patients, and visitors, as well as to protect the assets of Williamson Health. Responsibilities include responding to security incidents, providing non-violent interventions, and maintaining visibility throughout the premises. Our goal is to assist with requests for help, report hazardous conditions, and ensure a secure atmosphere across all facilities.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Training:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) within one year of employment; recertification required every two years.

Experience:
- Minimum of one year in general security, law enforcement, or military service required; three years preferred. Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Tennessee driver's license; must be insurable.
- Tennessee armed or unarmed security guard license required or to be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Capability to climb stairs efficiently.
- Assist nursing staff with lifting and restraining patients when necessary.
- Preparedness for potential intervention scenarios.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  1. Timely and accurate handling of valuable patient items as per departmental policy.
  2. Thorough documentation of internal rounds in compliance with policy.
  3. Conducting external rounds with attention to the needs of visitors, patients, and staff.
  4. Familiarity with key areas of the hospital.
  5. Reinforcing hospital policies through vigilant observation and reporting.
  6. Monitoring security cameras and coordinating with fellow officers on security issues.
  7. Executing lockdown and unlock procedures as outlined in the security manual.
  8. Identifying and reporting safety hazards in construction zones.
  9. Conducting financial transactions and bank runs with professionalism.
  10. Providing courteous and informative assistance to visitors and patients.
  11. Proficient in report writing and familiar with security equipment.
  12. Ability to produce accurate event and incident reports.
  13. Completing assignments in a timely manner as per IAHSS standards.
