Role Overview:
The Health and Safety Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe working environment by identifying and mitigating hazardous conditions. This position involves:
- Hazard Identification: Recognizing unsafe workplace conditions and conducting preliminary assessments of hazardous materials and environments.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensuring adherence to federal and state occupational safety regulations and maintaining necessary documentation.
- Inspection Participation: Engaging in safety inspections and managing follow-up procedures post-citation.
- Incident Reporting: Investigating and documenting workplace injuries and fatalities as required.
- Training Development: Facilitating training sessions on safe work practices.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety, Physical Science, Life Science, or Engineering.
- Proficiency in interpreting and enforcing legal standards within the maritime and construction sectors.
- The ability to work autonomously in a dynamic work environment.
Key Competencies Sought:
- Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Graduate Safety Professional (GSP).
- Experience in the construction industry.
- Background in legal standards interpretation and enforcement.
