Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) Executive Team is seeking a seasoned leader to join our team as a Community Reentry Deputy Assistant Director for our Education, Programs, and Community Reentry Division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer, coordinate, recommend, and implement programs and systems related to community reentry and community supervision.
  • Oversee the operations and administration of the Community Supervision section of the Education, Programs and Community Reentry Division.
  • Provide direct supervision and administrative direction to community reentry managers that oversee supervisors, officers, and support staff to ensure evidence-based practices are utilized and the department's vision is upheld.
  • Assist in developing, planning, and implementing department goals and objectives.
  • Recommend and administer policies and procedures.
  • Review and/or recommend legislation for potential impact.
Job Duties:
  • Provide oversight to all community reentry managers to ensure reentry efforts are current, evidence-based, and in compliance with the Department's vision.
  • Work in conjunction with managers to resource modern efforts to deliver services to inmates and released individuals.
  • Work in conjunction with other divisions to identify, implement, and continue efforts to increase the Department's ability to properly assess inmates upon release to develop individualized plans for programming and reentry efforts.
  • Administer and ensure coordination and implementation of risk reduction and cognitive restructuring programs are delivered to inmates and released individuals.
  • Administer and ensure coordination and implementation of quality assurance activities and perform reporting related to risk reduction and reentry programs to ensure program fidelity.
  • Ensure newly hired Community Reentry Officers (CROs) and supervisors are provided with the appropriate training relative to the needs of the position, including case management and risk reduction curriculum.
  • Administer and ensure valid case management techniques and principles are employed effectively by Community Reentry Officers.
  • Drive on State business.
  • Perform other duties appropriate to the assignment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Knowledge of:
    • ADCRR policies and procedures.
    • Laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the assignment.
    • Concepts and practices of Community Reentry, supervision, and inmate programming.
    • Release assessment processes.
    • Community Reentry budgeting and budget proposals.
  • Skill in:
    • Verbal and written communications.
    • Coaching and training.
    • Organizational and vision management.
    • Continuous improvement principles and techniques.
    • Research and statistical concepts to comprehend and develop reports and statistical models in conjunction with the Research Department.
    • Project management techniques to organize and/or manage correctional initiatives.
    • Information technology business analysis techniques to develop automated solutions where appropriate.
  • Ability to:
    • Operate a computer, laptop, and associated office software.
    • Evaluate effective programs in the correctional setting.
    • Develop, track, and implement projects strategically.
    • Lead and mentor staff.
    • Develop effective management systems and practices.
    • Interpret and enforce state, federal, and agency laws, policies, and procedures.
Selective Preference(s):
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or related field.
  • Proven experience in corrections, criminal justice, or related field.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
  • Proven experience in a community corrections setting.
  • Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience in corrections, criminal justice, and case management.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
