Job Responsibilities
The HVAC Instructor plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive Career and Technical Education within the specified trade domain. This position involves guiding students to achieve the necessary competencies in HVAC, demonstrating proficient management of classroom and laboratory settings, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining precise and up-to-date records for all students.
Essential Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: A minimum of two years of full-time or 2000 hours of verifiable experience in the HVAC field within the last five years is necessary for obtaining a teaching certificate.
Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the HVAC trade; capability to supervise adult learners in both classroom and lab environments.
Licensure: Eligibility for a Journeyman or Master Electrician License, or a Technical Professional License in Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning is required. Candidates must also qualify for a teaching certificate from the Department of Education.
Additional Considerations
Experience in managing correctional education environments is preferred. The ability to support fellow instructors and familiarity with institutional policies governing correctional education is essential. Candidates should possess:
- Five years of experience in the HVAC field.
- Relevant licensure in the HVAC trade issued by the appropriate authority.
- A valid teaching certificate from the Department of Education.
- Proficiency in supervising adult inmates in educational settings within correctional facilities.
