Job Summary

As a Correctional Treatment Specialist with the Justice, Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System, you will play a vital role in fostering a humane and secure environment within our correctional facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare individuals for successful reentry into their communities by providing guidance, counseling, and support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct group guidance sessions to address institutional adjustment, U.S. Parole Commission, release planning, and interpersonal communications.
  • Provide individual counseling sessions to help offenders understand and live within complex family circumstances and develop new adjustment techniques.
  • Assess and address the needs of offenders, developing and implementing treatment plans to promote positive behavior and rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with other correctional disciplines to ensure a comprehensive approach to offender rehabilitation.
  • Prepare special progress reports for parole, transfer, restoration of forfeited good time, and make recommendations as needed.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field, such as corrections, sociology, psychology, or social work.
  • At least one year of specialized experience in a correctional setting, providing case management services, counseling, or treatment planning.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with offenders, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
