Role Summary:

The Maintenance Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of personnel engaged in the repair, upkeep, and installation of machinery, tools, and equipment within an underground salt mining facility. This role involves direct supervision of a maintenance team consisting of 8 to 15 employees. The Foreman will execute supervisory responsibilities in alignment with the organization's policies and applicable regulations. Key responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Management reserves the right to add or modify duties and responsibilities at any time.

  • Supervise the maintenance crew.
  • Evaluate ongoing maintenance projects and job orders to establish work priorities.
  • Direct maintenance operations and delegate tasks to the crew.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and adherence to safety protocols by the team.
  • Communicate equipment status and job order updates to relevant personnel and departments.
  • Provide technical guidance and direct mechanics to appropriate technical resources.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

Education and Experience:

  • Technical training in mechanical maintenance.
  • A minimum of eight years of maintenance experience and five years in a supervisory role, with direct experience in maintaining heavy diesel equipment and conveyor systems.
  • Experience in underground mining is preferred.
  • Experience with shaft maintenance will be considered an asset.
