Role Summary:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the development of electrical systems tailored for hemodialysis devices. This role encompasses the planning and coordination of intricate phases of electrical engineering tasks associated with assigned projects, as well as involvement in subsystem integration, verification, and troubleshooting. Key responsibilities include executing tests, providing solutions, and creating and reviewing technical documentation and related schematics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address and evaluate a broad spectrum of challenges creatively, proposing alternative approaches as necessary.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Formulate solutions based on limited data and precedents, adapting existing methodologies to tackle issues.
  • Utilize evaluation and judgment to determine the most appropriate course of action.
  • Foster relationships and networks with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct electrical design engineering activities to ensure product features, performance, and quality align with budgetary constraints and timelines.
  • Identify and specify electronic subsystems and circuit boards.
  • Document and analyze design requirements for effective implementation.
  • Design, model, simulate, and test electronic circuits, subsystems, and systems.
  • Create schematic diagrams, guide PCB layout, generate BOMs, and collaborate with contract manufacturers for board fabrication and assembly.
  • Diagnose and recommend solutions for electrical system challenges.
  • Support system integration, troubleshooting, verification, and validation, including safety, EMC, and reliability assessments.
  • Apply risk analysis, failure analysis, and root cause analysis as necessary within the engineering domain.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure manufacturability and testability of electrical designs.
  • Manage electrical lab equipment, tools, and materials; assist with board and cable rework and assembly; ensure lab activities comply with safety and organizational standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience, or 3 years with a master's degree.
  • Proficient in electronic circuit design, including power, analog, and digital components and applications.
  • Familiarity with EDA tools for schematic and layout design.
  • Experience with laboratory instruments for measurement and troubleshooting.
  • Strong hands-on skills in reworking and cabling.
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability and reliability principles.
  • Knowledge of IEC60601 series standards; experience with electrical safety and EMC testing is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Medical Device QMS and design control processes; experience with PDM/PLM systems and change control is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and reporting abilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods in a laboratory setting.
  • Proficient in using a computer while seated at a desk.
  • Occasional lifting of items weighing less than 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Standard office settings featuring cubicles and conference rooms, along with laboratory areas that may contain hazardous materials requiring adherence to safety protocols.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel domestically as required (up to 10%) primarily for vendor visits and select conferences.
