Position Overview:
The Healthcare Engineering Supervisor plays a pivotal role in guiding clinical personnel on the secure operation of essential infrastructure, utility systems, and fire safety measures pertinent to the healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Compliance Assurance:**
Ensure adherence to various accreditation and regulatory standards, including those set forth by the Joint Commission (TJC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

2. **Engineering Application:**
Utilize engineering principles and methodologies to improve healthcare delivery, fostering a technologically advanced, safe, and dependable healthcare setting.

3. **Program Management:**
Oversee the planning, organization, direction, evaluation, and management of Service Line programs, establishing both qualitative and quantitative benchmarks.

4. **Leadership Communication:**
Provide the Executive Leadership Team and clinical staff with insights on integrating Engineering, Maintenance, Capital Management, and other Engineering initiatives into the Medical Center's mission.

5. **Joint Commission Oversight:**
Supervise the Environment of Care Programs related to Utility Systems Management, Safety, Life Safety, and Medical Equipment Management across the Medical Center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).

6. **Administrative Responsibilities:**
Manage all aspects of the Engineering Program, including planning, staffing, budgeting, and effective management of resources.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm PST. Telework may be authorized on an ad hoc basis, to be discussed during the interview.

Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited institution.
- Professional registration or licensure as a Professional Engineer or Architect is preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent.

Preferred Experience:
Two years of experience as a Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:
Refer to VA Directive and Handbook 5019 for specific requirements.
