Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Site Lead and Systems Engineer to join our team at Scientific Research Corporation. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integration, availability, and up-to-date status of our platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with NIWC stakeholders and development teams to ensure seamless integration of platforms
  • Act as site lead for technical team, completing program manager responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot quickly and efficiently in Linux-based environments
  • Research and recommend innovative approaches for system administration and integration tasks
  • Automate testing and development enclaves through Ansible, Puppet, and Bash
  • Manage network devices, including Juniper SRX, Gigamon appliances, and Cisco devices
  • Engineer using Puppet and Ansible for configuration management and IA compliance
  • Perform sustainment engineering of on-premise systems and test environments, ensuring IA compliance and risk mitigation
  • Lead development and review of project-related documentation, including requirements documents, design documents, test documents, and operations and maintenance record keeping
  • Ensure all assigned tasks meet DoD guidelines and are completed according to schedule
  • Maintain skills current with industry trends and government developments to best support and advise customers
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science and at least 5 years of experience
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, VMware vSphere or Red Hat Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM)
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Linux-based systems, scripting languages (e.g. Python), and tools (e.g. Ansible) for configuration management, automation, security hardening, and task reduction
  • Must currently hold a DoD 8570-compliant IAT II certification (SSCP or Security+ CE with appropriate CE/OS certificate) or be able to obtain within six months
  • Experience with maintaining and debugging networking test equipment, including switches, routers, and traffic generators
  • Familiarity with Navy documentation processes for installation and ability to read and interpret schematics for technical packages (e.g. AutoCAD or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, including IP, routing, UDP, TCP, and the OSI model
  • Minimum 5 years of experience, with at least two years supporting military systems
  • Minimum two years of experience as a functional lead or supervisor
  • Intermediate level experience with Ansible and Bash
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, and ability to lead technical exchanges with other design teams, project managers, and engineering team leads
  • Experience managing complex tasks, scheduling site visits, and interfacing with government customers
Desired Skills
  • Minimum of three+ (3+) years of Linux administration experience
  • Splunk familiarity, including administration, dashboard configuration, troubleshooting, and data monitoring
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Navy drawing standards and ability to edit/review drawings detailing C2 system connectivity
  • Lead development of technical data package deliveries to customers, including mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics, and developing a detailed Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Intermediate level knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python) and techniques for automation
  • Experience writing test scripts and data collection scripts using third-party APIs and interfaces
  • Experience developing automation frameworks for a networked testbed
  • Desired knowledge base with CANES and ADNS
  • Demonstrated experience with best test practices, including formal, requirements-based testing
  • Experience developing within a CI/CD software automation framework
  • Experience with Git or other software management tools
  • Ability to express ideas, planning, and analysis both verbally and in writing
