Job Summary

Marshall Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician Specialist to join our team in the Sterile Preparation department. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with USP Chapter and USP Chapter regulations, as well as state Board of Pharmacy regulations, in all compounding rooms, devices, and personnel.
  • Verify products used meet USP requirements for sterile compounding and confirm devices are working according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct routine environmental sampling of all devices and rooms, coordinate semi-annual recertification with an outside entity, and contribute to annual written and didactic competency testing for all employees who engage in sterile compounding.
  • Develop and implement training programs for technicians and pharmacists, and provide ongoing education and support to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the staffing of shifts in the IV room to ensure adequate staffing levels and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • Current California Pharmacy Technician License is required upon hire.
  • Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) certification required within one year of hire.
  • Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) required within one year of hire.
  • Two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in an acute care hospital pharmacy, providing unit dose and IV additive service or Home Care Pharmacy required.
  • Knowledge of medications, medical terminology, and Board of Pharmacy, USP , and USP regulations is required.
  • Basic high school chemistry and math competency, and basic mechanical aptitude skills are necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, develop and implement training programs, and navigate electronic health records is preferred.
