Spacecraft Software Specialist

**The Opportunity:**
We are looking for a talented Sr Software Engineer (Flight) to join our team at SpaceX. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge software development projects that will help us achieve our goal of making humanity a multi-planetary species.
About the Role:
This position involves designing, developing, launching, and operating software systems for SpaceX flight systems. You will collaborate with other engineers to identify mission requirements and create high-quality software solutions that meet those needs.
The software subsystems you will work on include onboard software for rockets and spacecraft, simulations, distributed data management, and analysis tools. The problem domains span embedded, fault-tolerant, flight control, web, mobile, cloud, and big data computing.
Responsibilities:
- Develop highly reliable and available software systems.
- Design and implement fault detection and mitigation in software.
- Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
- Develop prototypes to prove out key design concepts and quantify technical constraints.
- Write high-quality structured bare-metal, Linux-based software for embedded processors (e.g., ARM, PowerPC, x86, etc.).
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline.
- 5 years or more of professional experience with C++.
Salary Estimate: $160,000 - $210,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
