Position Overview

The David Zwirner Photography Department is seeking an enthusiastic and cooperative intern to collaborate with the gallery's imaging team. This internship offers valuable post-production assistance while gaining insights from the professionals who enhance and distribute in-house photography. It presents an excellent opportunity to understand the various roles and processes involved in producing imagery for the gallery's online presence, archival purposes, and promotional materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Imaging Tasks:
    • Assist in retouching images captured by our in-house photographers.
    • Help create client-ready installation and frame renderings using Photoshop.
    • Contribute to preview and website image formatting by collecting, editing, and exporting files, including PDF generation.
    • Maintain artwork records in the website backend.
    • Support Photoshop automation and file exports.
    • Engage in color management tasks to ensure consistency throughout the imaging process.
  • Archival Duties:
    • Assist with file renaming and server organization.
    • Utilize project management tools effectively.

Skills Development Opportunities:

  • Photography Skills:
    • Enhancing and refining photography using Photoshop.
    • Creating and implementing Photoshop automation tools.
    • Utilizing tools for color matching in photography.
    • Formatting images for various applications, including web and print.
    • Understanding Epson inkjet printing techniques.
    • Learning photo scanning processes.
  • Organizational Skills:
    • Best practices in file management.
    • Project management proficiency using tools like Asana and Notion.
  • Web Skills:
    • Experience with website backend CMS operations.
    • Producing high-quality Epson inkjet prints for clients while ensuring color accuracy.

This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive and educational experience, requiring a commitment of three months. The internship hours are Monday to Friday, from 10 AM to 6 PM, and it is compensated at the NYC minimum wage. Candidates must reside in the surrounding areas.
