Internship Overview:
This internship with the ICP School Facilities provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in managing a photography facility. Interns will become acquainted with the essential equipment utilized in our facilities and learn critical safety and chemical handling protocols. Our aim is to enhance communication with students regarding the use of cameras, software, and equipment while engaging in various projects to meet these objectives.
Project Focus:
The specific projects and goals will align with the intern's interests in relation to the three main areas of our department.
Daily Responsibilities:
Assist in ongoing projects and maintenance tasks within the labs and equipment room. This may include conducting inventory checks of photography equipment and assisting in the repair and adjustment of machinery in the darkroom.
Learning Outcomes:
The intern will receive training to become proficient as a technician across our three facilities.
Training and Development Opportunities:
Interns will learn the operational procedures of our darkrooms, digital labs, and equipment rooms within an educational context. Emphasis will be placed on best practices regarding safety, software usage, communication, and equipment handling. The intern will have the chance to shadow and collaborate closely with the three facility managers and the Senior Manager of Facilities.
Orientation Process:
The Department Coordinators in the labs, the Assistant Manager in the Equipment Room, and the Senior Manager of Facilities will serve as the primary contacts and oversee all activities.
Intern Qualifications: Previous experience in darkrooms, digital labs, or equipment rooms is advantageous.
