Job Title: Substance Abuse Navigator

We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Abuse Navigator to join our team at System One. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct brief ASAM screenings with clients to assess their substance abuse and mental health needs.
  • Provide information and referrals for treatment services and other ancillary services.
  • Coordinate with project-approved treatment providers to ensure clients receive the necessary support and care.
  • Facilitate at-risk workshops and SUD education and workshops for individuals and groups.
  • Link clients to essential services, housing, mental health, legal services, and additional needs.
  • Assist clients in enrolling and verifying insurance (Medi-Cal and My Health LA).
  • Participate in SAPC monthly and quarterly meetings to meet funding stream-specific requirements.
  • Develop and submit weekly client charts to the program manager and/or program coordinator.
  • Guide clients through the SUD system of care, both in-network and out-of-network.
  • Conduct follow-up with clients screened and enrolled in SUD treatment programs.
Requirements:
  • Certified or Registered Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor.
  • 3+ years of job-related experience.
  • Registered employees must complete the certification process within five (5) years of their initial registration date.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus.
  • If in recovery, a minimum of three (3) years of being drug and alcohol-free is mandatory.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
  • Knowledge of core competencies of Substance Abuse Counseling.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other database programs.
  • Knowledge of various community-based treatment providers.
  • Experience collaborating with the criminal justice population.
  • Valid California Driver License, Proof of Car Insurance, Reliable transportation.
  • TB Clearance upon hire and thereafter annually.
  • CPR and First Aid upon hire and thereafter.
