Job Overview

Position Summary:

Sovah Health is seeking a dedicated individual to undertake reception, registration, and administrative responsibilities related to both direct and scheduled patient admissions. The ideal candidate will warmly welcome patients, gather essential demographic and financial details, secure necessary signatures, and facilitate payment collection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of all required demographic, billing, and clinical information into the registration system.
  • Distribute necessary forms, documents, and educational materials to patients and their families.
  • Engage with patients and caregivers to exchange vital information and documentation, providing clear explanations of processes and addressing any concerns.
  • Coordinate with the admitting physician's office, nursing staff, and other relevant personnel to facilitate admissions and ensure proper information exchange.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and communicate any changes to relevant departments and colleagues.
  • Verify insurance benefits and confirm necessary authorizations and pre-certifications.
  • Review physician orders for completeness and compliance, ensuring all required forms and records are accurate.
  • Handle payment estimations, oversee upfront collections, process payments, establish payment plans, and assess patients' ability to pay, escalating issues as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of CPT & ICD10 codes, along with familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care Payers.
  • Proficient typing skills at a minimum of 30 WPM with high accuracy.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Medium-level critical thinking skills.
  • Cross-trained in multiple areas of Patient Access and willing to adapt to departmental needs, including working in the Emergency Department.
  • Ability to assess relevant CPT & HCPCS codes and confirm that appropriate authorizations are secured.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, to ensure continuous patient care.

Experience: One to two years of customer service and/or healthcare experience preferred.
