The Operations Manager at Carter Lumber oversees the efficient functioning of a professional lumberyard. Achieving success in this role requires a strong focus on meeting performance targets and sales objectives while effectively managing costs and expenditures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Store Operations: Directs and manages the comprehensive operations of a pro-oriented lumberyard. Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures while overseeing yard activities and store office personnel. Conducts regular operational meetings with market management and engages with upper management to address sales and operational challenges.
- Staff Management: Responsible for all aspects of personnel management, including hiring, communication, motivation, training, and disciplinary actions. Develops work schedules for operational staff and provides guidance in resolving employee issues.
- Sales Management: Leads the inside sales team to achieve established goals. Collaborates closely with management to monitor sales performance and profitability.
- Knowledge & Training: Identifies opportunities for personal and team development. Completes necessary orientation and safety training while committing to ongoing education regarding products and procedures. Supports employee career advancement.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in a building materials setting, including sales, management, and operations.
- Prior experience working with contractors.
- Ability to analyze inventory trends and activities.
- Proven leadership skills with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer relationship building.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
