POSITION SUMMARY FOR THE AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION SPECIALIST:

This role involves a structured schedule from Monday to Friday, focusing on both in-person and virtual instruction methods. The Certified Vocational Educator will engage with high school learners and adult participants in vocational training programs. Responsibilities include curriculum development, classroom management, maintaining educational records, generating progress assessments, and sourcing necessary materials and equipment. The educator will cater to a diverse student population, encompassing various backgrounds, ethnicities, and abilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION SPECIALIST:
  • Deliver educational content in classroom, individualized, and laboratory settings, including organizing field trips and guest speakers.
  • Assess student performance through grading and practical skill observation.
  • Maintain accurate classroom documentation, including attendance and progress reports.
  • Research and develop vocational education curricula, including course outlines and lesson plans.
  • Instill essential work habits, including accuracy, efficiency, and resourcefulness in students.
  • Stay informed about job market trends and assist in student recruitment efforts.
  • Foster relationships with local businesses to align training objectives with industry standards.
  • Establish partnerships for student internships and paid apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Teach safe operation and maintenance of tools and equipment relevant to the curriculum.
  • Participate in job fairs, workshops, and professional development conferences.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, with occasional travel as needed.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS OF THE AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION SPECIALIST:
  • Ability to cultivate effective relationships with colleagues, students, and community members.
  • Proficient in developing and sustaining employer partnerships for training opportunities.
  • Knowledge of equipment functions and maintenance related to the vocational program.
  • Familiarity with basic welding tools and agricultural principles.
  • Understanding of record-keeping and data organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual communication tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Competence in evaluating student progress and performance.
  • Experience in curriculum development and lesson planning.
  • Ability to deliver presentations and instructional materials effectively.
  • Awareness of accreditation standards applicable to vocational programs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION SPECIALIST:
  • Two years of relevant vocational experience.
  • Possession of teacher certification 010, 218.
  • Capability to instruct in welding is essential.
  • Experience in teaching Animal Systems is preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Five years of experience in the vocational area with a certified teacher's license.
  • NCCER certification is a plus.
  • Eligibility for obtaining a teaching certificate or vocational teaching permit as per educational regulations.
