Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Campus Director of Information Technology to join our team at Connecticut State Community College. This is a tenure-track position that requires a strong background in IT service leadership, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technology service leadership on a campus under the Associate Vice President of Technology Operations.
  • Collaborate with Academic Technology Managers, Enterprise Technology Managers, and CSCU Shared Services Managers to support the effective adoption and ongoing use of enterprise shared technology services.
  • Ensure priorities and guidance provided by ATMs and ETMs are carried out on a campus.
  • Supervise enterprise shared technology/administrative technology support staff and academic technical support staff on a campus.
  • Coordinate service goals, strategies, metrics, and reporting mechanisms to ensure enterprise shared technology services meet the needs of the CT State organization.
  • Manage campus-based Technology Service Organizational (TSO) technical staff supporting enterprise shared technology services and administrative and academic technology services.
  • Oversee daily administrative tasks and campus-related functions.
  • Provide supervision, selection, management, and evaluation of campus-based technical support staff.
  • Analyze resources needed to fulfill the campus's technology service obligations, including cost/benefit analysis and long-term forecasts.
  • Prepare fiscally sound budgets and expected results of expenditures in support of campus-based enterprise shared technology services and administrative and academic technologies.
  • Aid in the preparation, maintenance, and coordination of disaster recovery plans for consistent business operations on a campus.
  • Engage in professional development to maintain continual growth in professional skills and knowledge essential to the position.
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support for workstations, applications, network services, software, printers, Wi-Fi, etc.
  • Support and provide technical services for various core network devices & services; WAN and LAN connectivity, switches, routers, firewalls, Wi-Fi, printers, VPN, VoIP, etc.
  • Manage campus backup and business continuity systems.
  • Maintain/Upgrade/Update campus servers, network equipment, software, and other core services.
  • Collaborate with other regional IT team members and managers to deploy enterprise-wide initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technological discipline.
  • Three (3) or more years' experience in computer system, network, and software design, development, and implementation.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in supervision of others.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in IT service management, technical leadership, and communication.
  • Proven ability to serve as an effective member of a management team, lead a team of technical staff, and interact effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing, evaluating, training, sourcing, and disciplining technical staff.
  • Experience working within a complex organization, interacting with and influencing multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven track record and experience in developing technical solutions, technical standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of common operational management frameworks with detailed knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in computer science or related technological discipline.
  • Experience working in higher education in managing/maintaining network and servers.
  • Microsoft & industry standard certifications in fields of virtualization and server management.
  • Experience with Windows and Mac operating systems (OS) in an Academic environment.
  • Experience with help desk ticketing systems (example SNOW – Service Now).
