Position Overview:

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a Clinical Research Nurse I specializing in Oncology. In this role, the Oncology Clinical Research Nurse (RN) I will advocate for the welfare of patients participating in oncology clinical trials while ensuring adherence to clinical research protocols and compliance with relevant regulations. This position operates under the general oversight of the Clinical Trials Office Management and the Principal Investigator for specific protocols, ensuring the safe and effective execution of oncology clinical research while safeguarding patient rights.

The primary objective of the Oncology Clinical Research Nurse I is to promote positive safety and quality outcomes for patients enrolled in adult oncology clinical trials. This will be achieved through the coordination and management of trial participants, utilizing the nursing process, clinical expertise, critical thinking, and a solid understanding of scientific research methodologies. The Oncology Clinical Research Nurse I is expected to develop and enhance competencies in clinical research nursing within the first year, which includes compliance with all applicable policies and procedures, as well as familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and federal regulations governing human subjects research.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with healthcare professionals across various departments, including physicians and advanced practice providers, to implement the Ambulatory Care Practice Model.
  2. Employ nursing assessment skills and critical thinking to conduct comprehensive research screening visits for potential trial participants, ensuring adherence to protocol requirements.
  3. Work alongside investigators and study team members to effectively recruit, enroll, and retain participants in clinical trials.
