Job Title: GVSP Project Director

The University of Virginia's Office of the Provost seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Project Director for the Gun Violence Solutions Project (GVSP). This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to a critical initiative aimed at reducing gun violence in the local community.

Job Summary:

The GVSP Project Director will be responsible for managing and coordinating various activities of the project, ensuring collaboration among multiple schools and units across UVA, as well as local and national community partners. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, project management, and operational support to ensure the project's success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to project team members, ensuring alignment with the project's goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including community organizations, government agencies, and academic institutions.
  • Manage project finances, including budgeting, tracking expenses, and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate project activities, including meetings, events, and communications, to ensure effective collaboration and communication among team members and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including reports, presentations, and other materials, to ensure transparency and accountability.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as public policy, public health, or a related field.
  • At least four years of experience in project management, program development, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of success in managing complex projects, building partnerships, and leading teams.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting or a related field.
  • Knowledge of gun violence prevention and community-based initiatives.
  • Experience with project management software, such as Asana or Trello.
