Job Title: Project Manager and Project Associate

The Commonwealth of Virginia's Center for Cultural Landscapes at the University of Virginia's School of Architecture seeks a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Project Manager and Project Associate. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the conservation and preservation of historic and endangered places and landscapes.

Job Summary:

The Project Manager will assist the Center's faculty director with supporting center operations, stakeholder engagement, grantee communications, and project management. The Project Associate will support the Project Manager and Faculty Director in various activities, including outreach, surveying, scanning historical documents, recording oral histories, and building relationships with community-based organizations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Assist the Faculty Director in managing projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with staff, students, advisory board members, and faculty to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Grant Management: Assist with grant writing, reporting, and communication with grantees.
  • Community Outreach: Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage with community-based organizations and promote the Center's mission.
  • Historical Preservation: Assist with the preservation and conservation of historic and endangered places and landscapes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least four years of relevant experience for the Project Manager position and two years for the Project Associate position.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel for work-related purposes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with project management software and tools.
  • Knowledge of historic preservation and cultural heritage.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations.
