Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse II to join our team in the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Alameda Health System. As a key member of our team, you will assist the radiologist and cardiologist in the performance of invasive procedures, providing a safe environment for patients and ensuring the efficient operation of equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accompany and assist patients, representing their needs to other providers.
  • Monitor patients, including hemodynamic data, ECG, and angiographic data, and document and report changes to physicians and team members.
  • Assist with the preparation of radiologic and laboratory equipment, maintaining aseptic/sterile technique and troubleshooting equipment as needed.
  • Assume on-call duty and respond within 30 minutes to emergency procedures.
  • Apply ACLS protocols and emergency drug knowledge to ensure patient safety.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans, preparing required records and reports.
  • Function as a contributing member of the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory team, working with cardiologists, radiologists, registered nurses, and cardiovascular technicians.
  • May function as a Scrub Assistant, ensuring compliance with sterile/aseptic technique and maintaining adequate floor and room stock.
  • Organize, supervise, and accept responsibility for the quality of care provided by coworkers for a given work period.
  • Participate in promoting a healthful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, setting up and controlling the environment essential for infection control.
  • Participate in the implementation of patient care standards, infection control standards, and quality assurance criteria, assisting with conducting studies and participating in unit and other meetings.
  • Perform or assist with pre-, intra-, and post-procedure assessments on all patients to meet nursing needs and assist and consult with physicians and other professional staff.
  • Provide a safe environment and monitoring for moderate sedation during Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Radiology procedures and administer medications in conjunction with physicians during procedures.
  • Provide patient education and post-procedure assessment.
  • Provide the technical skills necessary to assist physicians in performing Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Catheterization procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum three years recent experience in Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory with interventional cardiology/STEMI preferred.
  • Required Licenses/Certifications: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification, BLS - Basic Life Support Certification, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) eligible within two years of hire.
