Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Tech to join our team at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles. As a Radiology Tech, you will be responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and providing support for the imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provide appropriate educational material.
  • Transport patients to and from clinical areas and verify patient identity according to policies and procedures.
  • Prepare patients for radiology exams by positioning them for the procedure and follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Monitor protocols and recommend updates or refinements as warranted.
  • Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other areas.
  • Perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Rare kneeling and sitting.
Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • ARRT-BD Bone Density - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Work Environment

This is a PRN/Per Diem Shift position, working in a fast-paced imaging department at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles.
