We are seeking a skilled Radiology Imaging Specialist to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our Imaging and Diagnostics department, you will be responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Preparation: Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding, provide educational material, and prepare patients for radiology exams by positioning them for the procedure.
- Radiation Safety: Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent patient exposure to unnecessary radiation.
- Contrast Media Administration: Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Image Quality: Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient data/history.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure equipment is properly functioning, report potential problems or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel, and lock/tag out equipment if necessary.
- Department Maintenance: Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other areas.
- Emergency Procedures: Perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site.
- Education: Completion of a radiology certification program.
- Experience: No experience required.
- Licensure: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification and ARRT-R Radiography or ARRT-BD Bone Density certification.
This is a PRN/Per Diem Shift position, working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will be required to stand and walk constantly, use vision and depth perception for distances near and far, and use hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
