Job Description:
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Training Specialist II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in planning, organizing, and conducting training programs for our state hospital program area.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with program area staff to identify and address training needs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Plan, organize, and conduct training programs in group settings or online formats, developing curriculum specific to the program area and evaluating training effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain a training database to track employee compliance with required training, ensuring accurate and complete records.
• Serve as a liaison with Facility Support Services Competency Training and Development (FCTD) to monitor mandatory online trainings and track employee progress.
• Maintain necessary certifications to teach assigned classes, including specialty HHSC classes and general public response classes.
• Participate in program meetings and continuous performance improvement activities to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) conditions of participation, Texas Administrative Code (TAC), and agency rules and regulations.

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as education, training, or human resources.
• Proven experience in training and development, with a focus on adult learning principles and instructional design.
• Strong knowledge of training procedures and techniques, including curriculum development and evaluation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service and quality.

Working Conditions:
• This is a full-time position, working under moderate supervision with limited latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
• The successful candidate will be required to work a specific shift schedule, extended shifts, and/or overtime as needed.
• The position may require participation in disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may involve alternate shift patterns and/or locations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of patient care techniques and treatment, therapy, and developmental programs.
• Skills in preparing training classes, using computer-based programs, and maintaining records and databases.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to train others and communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals.

Essential Functions:
• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or extended shifts and/or overtime.
• Collaborates with program area staff to identify and address training needs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Develops and maintains a training database to track employee compliance with required training, ensuring accurate and complete records.
• Serves as a liaison with FCTD to monitor mandatory online trainings and track employee progress.

Other Duties:
• Performs other duties as assigned, including actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
• Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
