Salary Range

The salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $85,000 annually, based on location and qualifications.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Coordinator of Vocational Services. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising vocational evaluators and employment training specialists. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring consumer involvement in decision-making throughout the evaluation and training process;
  • Collaborating with consumers and the transdisciplinary team to design vocational training;
  • Leading and participating in Community of Practice (COP) for vocational training to support learning among department staff;
  • Empowering staff to grow as professionals through adult learning collaborative models and trends in the vocational rehabilitation field;
  • Supervising and evaluating work performance of vocational evaluators and employment training specialists;
  • Providing on-site coaching to support staff in incorporating tactile techniques with job performance and identifying accommodations;
  • Representing HKNC on task forces, CoP's, internal and external teams, and seeking innovative strategies to enhance employment opportunities and training;
  • Conducting in-service training for staff members, family members, and professionals regarding rehabilitation training for individuals who are DeafBlind.

This is an in-person position based out of Sands Point, NY.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field;
  • Minimum three years' experience working with individuals who are DeafBlind in the area of rehabilitation counseling;
  • Two years' supervisory experience required;
  • Proficiency in ASL; knowledge of Braille and other methods of communication used by persons who are DeafBlind;
  • Knowledge of Deaf and DeafBlind culture;
  • PC skills, including MS Office and report writing.
