Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced professional for the role of Coordinator of Vocational Services, responsible for supervising the vocational evaluator and employment training specialists. The successful candidate will perform job development in collaboration with consumers and the transdisciplinary team, develop our employer network in the metropolitan and Long Island area, and ensure vocational evaluation services are person-centered and representative of consumers' strengths, abilities, and aspirations.
This position requires strong leadership skills, including mentoring staff, facilitating peer learning groups, and representing HKNC on task forces, CoPs, internal, and external teams. The ideal candidate should be innovative, with the ability to research and identify trends, new employment opportunities, best practices, and incorporate them into building new curriculum, program development, and partnerships.
Responsibilities- Supervision and Evaluation: Supervise and evaluate the work performance of the vocational evaluator and employment training specialists, providing on-site coaching to support staff in incorporating tactile techniques and identifying accommodations.
- Job Development: Collaborate with consumers and the transdisciplinary team to design vocational training, ensuring it aligns with consumer goals and aspirations.
- Leadership and Growth Opportunities: Provide leadership and growth opportunities, representing HKNC on task forces, CoPs, internal, and external teams, and regularly seeking innovative strategies to improve vocational services.
- Education: Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related field.
- Experience: Minimum three years' experience working with individuals who are DeafBlind in rehabilitation counseling, with two years of supervisory experience required.
- Skills and Qualifications: Proficiency in ASL, knowledge of Braille and other methods of communication used by persons who are DeafBlind, and knowledge of Deaf and DeafBlind culture.
