Job Overview

Position Summary

The Youth Crisis Intervention Specialist will utilize their personal experiences to collaborate with a dedicated team in delivering immediate crisis response services to individuals facing behavioral and mental health challenges. This role involves providing short-term stabilization support to youth and their families, aiming to avert further escalation into crisis situations. Services will be delivered in various community settings, including homes and schools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to urgent crisis situations and engage in mobile outreach with a clinician as necessary.
  • Deliver prompt interventions to help individuals de-escalate emotional and behavioral crises.
  • Facilitate connections to ongoing support services to assist individuals in maintaining stability within the community.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide comprehensive stabilization services, which may include needs assessments, skills coaching, respite care, and coordination with educational and community resources.
  • Conduct follow-up with individuals and their families post-crisis to ensure continued support and stability.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, non-exempt position requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. The expected work schedule includes:

  • Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Thursday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Compensation Structure

The hourly compensation for this role is as follows:

  • $25.50 per hour for candidates with a valid Social Service Worker (SSW) license in Utah.
  • $21.50 per hour for candidates holding a bachelor's degree in a social science field without an SSW license.
  • $18.25 per hour for candidates without a bachelor's degree.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

A bachelor's degree in social work or a related field is required, along with current licensure as an SSW in Utah. Relevant experience in behavioral health is essential, and crisis worker certification is preferred.

Lived Experience

Candidates must possess personal lived experience with mental health or substance use issues, or be a caregiver of youth who have engaged with mental health services, demonstrating sustained recovery for a minimum of 12 months.

Crisis Intervention Experience

Experience in crisis intervention, particularly with youth and families, is crucial. Candidates must be able to share their lived experiences appropriately with clients and families.

Driving Requirements

A clean driving record is necessary for operating agency vehicles and transporting clients when required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in working with populations experiencing severe emotional disturbances and mental health crises.
  • Ability to motivate and engage individuals and families effectively.
  • Knowledge of child and family development principles and trauma-informed care.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility to accommodate varying work hours, including evenings and weekends.
