KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of laboratory leadership, this role is accountable for overseeing all operational facets within the designated section/team/department. This includes the organization and upkeep of documentation, reports, policies, and procedures; evaluation of testing techniques, staff training and management, technical supervision, and adherence to compliance standards.

Collaborates effectively with team members to ensure that tasks, priorities, objectives, and accomplishments align with management directives. Aids in test validations, regulatory adherence, quality control/assurance, and maintenance within the designated area. Conducts a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to support healthcare professionals in diagnosing, monitoring, treating, and preventing diseases.

**Qualifications:**

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:


A High School diploma or equivalent is required, along with sufficient college and/or technical coursework and clinical training to meet the qualifications for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an accredited certifying body.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a hospital setting is required.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists), or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) in accordance with the qualifications set forth by the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. Note: AAB provisional certification is not accepted.



ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:


A Bachelor's Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology, or a life/biological science (such as biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) is preferred. Previous experience in a lead or supervisory capacity is advantageous. Proficiency in the areas of the laboratory being managed, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank, and microbiology is essential. Familiarity with CAP, State of Georgia, and other regulatory agency guidelines is required. Experience with human resource/staff development matters and the ability to exercise independent judgment is necessary. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must, along with the ability to work collaboratively with others while demonstrating tact, discretion, and diplomacy.
