Scope of Position:

The Food Services Attendant is responsible for delivering outstanding service to both internal and external guests. Responsibilities may include working at banquets, birthday celebrations, and the café as required. The role demands maintaining a clean and organized environment while adhering to food safety regulations to ensure the provision of safe food and beverages.

Professional: Ability to work in a distinctly Christian environment and interact positively with co-workers and the public in alignment with The Salvation Army's Mission Statement. Must be capable of engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Understand and implement safe food handling practices
  • Follow proper cleaning procedures and manage chemical storage and labeling
  • Adhere to safety protocols and report any hazards or equipment issues to the Supervisor
  • Set up tables and chairs as instructed
  • Provide exceptional customer service, greeting guests warmly and addressing any concerns promptly
  • Maintain alertness and courtesy towards guests and colleagues
  • Participate in staff meetings as required
  • Follow lost and found procedures with respect for guest property
  • Report to work punctually and maintain accurate time records
  • Uphold a professional appearance and follow dress code standards
  • Collaborate with staff professionally, sharing necessary information with other departments

Café Responsibilities:

  • Prepare beverages such as coffee, juice, and smoothies, and maintain beverage dispensing machines
  • Make sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other items using standardized recipes
  • Inspect food items for freshness, rotate stock, and manage waste tracking
  • Clean and stock the refrigerated display case
  • Monitor food temperatures and document as required
  • Operate the cash register and adhere to money handling procedures
  • Maintain daily signage
  • Communicate supply needs to kitchen staff

Banquet and Event Responsibilities:

  • Deliver food and beverages to guests, ensuring quality presentation and temperature
  • Provide guests with product knowledge and respond to inquiries professionally
  • Follow Banquet Event Orders (BEO) with meticulous attention to detail
  • Effectively communicate special food requests to kitchen staff
  • Assist with dishwashing as needed

Physical Requirements:

Must adhere to the required dress code and maintain a well-groomed appearance. The role involves repetitive tasks, walking, bending, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 40 pounds unassisted, and working in a noisy environment.

Working Conditions:

This position entails frequent interaction with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those who may be upset or frustrated. The role is part-time with varying shifts based on departmental needs and requires minimal supervision.
