Job Title: Residential Assistant

SOME (So Others Might Eat) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential services to individuals and families in need. We are seeking a part-time Residential Assistant to join our team at Leland House in Northeast Washington DC.

Job Summary:

The Residential Assistant will provide support and supervision to residents in our transitional housing program. This includes monitoring and oversight of residential facilities, assisting with daily living activities, and providing guidance and resources to residents as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform room checks and hourly house walk-throughs to ensure resident safety and well-being
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, such as meal preparation and household chores
  • Monitor resident compliance with program rules and regulations
  • Provide documentation and maintain communication logs
  • Respond to crisis situations or medical emergencies and report to management and on-call staff
  • Provide supervision of the facility and residents during assigned shift; maintain safety and security of the facility
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in social services, preferably in addiction or mental health treatment
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • AED certification
  • Food Handler's License
  • Crisis Intervention training
  • Driver's License
Working Conditions:

This is a part-time position, working Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 am - 10:00 pm (24 hours per week). The Residential Assistant must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and may be required to sit or stand for long periods.

Benefits:

SOME offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including a hourly range of $17.00 to $19.70, commensurate with experience.
