Renewable Energy Operations Specialist

Job Summary:
The Renewable Generation Specialist position provides an interface between external and internal customers of the Constellation Power fleet. This role is responsible for monitoring and addressing generating unit and system conditions, ensuring requests for energy and ancillaries are met, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory rules in the appropriate ISO/RTO markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor generation conditions (alarms, status, trends, etc.) and take actions to address and/or communicate issues to the appropriate internal and external customers
- Responsible for timely communication to internal and external customers required by operating procedures, power purchase and interconnect agreements
- Respond to ISO and/or power purchase agreement representatives' requests in accordance with operating agreements and procedures
- Schedule generating unit availability and outages in a way that maximizes reliability and economic benefit
- Troubleshoot anomalies and escalate to field operations groups as needed
- Dispatch generation assets in a way that ensures that all energy and ancillary obligations are met
- Prepare operating reports and track performance indicators as required
- Create, maintain, and comply with procedures associated with this function
- Support ISO-driven system and/or procedure changes
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field with 6+ years professional experience
- Associate's degree with 8+ years professional experience and 3+ years exempt level experience
- High school diploma with 10+ years professional experience in related industry and 5+ exempt level experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyze and understand trends and instrumentation parameters to proactively identify adverse conditions and trends
- Position requires rotating shift work as part of a team of individuals filling a 24x7 shift schedule including Holidays
- Ability to multi-task and work in ambiguous situations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Commercial power generation experience
- Knowledge of NEPOOL, PJM, MISO, ERCOT, SPP markets
- Experience with SCADA control systems, PI, and alarm response
- Familiarity with NERC and FERC guidelines pertaining to power generation
