Key Responsibilities of a Culinary Support Specialist:

  • Provide consistent, reliable, and detail-oriented assistance to the Director of Dining Services in the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Sous Chef to create weekly menu selections.
  • Foster positive relationships with the Independent Living Team and Resident Community.
  • Maintain an up-to-date Serv-Safe sanitation certification and ensure compliance with sanitation standards in food preparation and dining experiences.
  • Oversee all aspects of food preparation, storage procedures, and safe handling of food and beverage products as directed by the Director of Culinary Services.
  • Ensure a clean and visually appealing kitchen environment.
  • Adhere to all kitchen protocols and assist with the opening and closing procedures of the Westbrooke Clubhouse.
  • Learn to greet residents by name and pay attention to their dietary restrictions and culinary preferences.
  • Assist in delivering an exceptional dining experience for residents in the absence of the Director of Dining Services.
  • Regularly communicate with the Director of Dining Services regarding special requirements, challenges, service standards, and suggestions for improvement.
  • Support the Director and Sous Chef in supervising the Westbrooke Clubhouse Dining Services Team during and outside of meal times.
  • Manage the Head Server and Dishwasher in the absence of the Director and Sous Chef.
  • Receive and verify orders from suppliers, unpacking and organizing food items, and liaising with contractors as necessary.
  • Inspect the kitchen at the start and end of shifts, addressing any sanitation concerns to ensure readiness for health inspections.

Qualifications for a Culinary Support Specialist:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in food service.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
  • Current Serv-Safe certification or the ability to obtain it upon hire is required.
